When I joined the team at Golden Rule Hospice 5 years ago, I was navigating one of the most difficult seasons of my life. I come from a close-knit family, one that has always been my anchor, but they were now over 600 miles away. And I had just lost my father.
Starting something new while carrying that kind of grief was overwhelming, but from the moment I walked through the doors of Golden Rule Hospice, something shifted. I didn’t just accept a position; I became part of something much larger.
Being a team member here means standing on a solid and purposeful foundation, one built on values that guide every decision we make and every life we touch. It means showing up for our patients by providing exceptional care, not because it’s expected, but because they deserve nothing less.
It means standing by your team, through triumphs and the hard days, because that’s what real support looks like. It means embracing accountability, owning your role, and understanding how each of us contributes to something greater.
It means treating every person – patient, family member, and fellow team member- the way you want to be treated.
It means going above and beyond, not as an afterthought, but a standard.
Most of all, it means FAMILY. Having experienced loss firsthand, I understand deeply why that word matters in this line of work. At Golden Rule Hospice, that isn’t something we say, it is something we live every single day.
